CBD’s GIS expertise includes a full range of analytical, remote sensing, and mapping services in support of CBD projects, or in direct support of client needs
Our Areas of Expertise
CBD’s GIS expertise includes a full range of analytical, remote sensing, and mapping services in support of CBD projects, or in direct support of client needs. CBD’s GIS staff has years of experience in the field. Our arsenal includes industry-standard software packages such as, ESRI ArcMap, as well as large-format digitizers, plotters, and scanners to ensure quick and accurate input and output.
CBD’s field procedures include the control of spatial variability, both vertical and horizontal, through a GIS system using the most up-to-date Trimble GPS and robotic total stations and both Trimble Business Center and TDS software. Responsibility for the accuracy and consistency of the resulting GIS database, and for the appropriate selection, calibration, and operation of the required software and hardware, is assigned to a trained surveyor on each crew, the GIS Manager, and the Project Manager. CBD offers a comprehensive full-service approach to geospatial technology integration into Civil Design. CBD brings extensive experience and knowledge in geospatial data creation, integration, analysis, visualization, and application development, as well as delivering final products tailored to clients’ requirements. CBD’s use of industry standard geographic information system (GIS); computer-aided design (CAD); Global Positioning System (GPS); and remote sensing tools such as ESRI ArcMap, Trimble, and Autodesk AutoCAD, supports seamless integration of geospatial-based technology with planning, management, and decision needs. CBD also employs the emerging technology of web-based virtual globe mapping tools, such as Google Earth, as a powerful tool for visualizing and analyzing environmental and design information in an interactive mapping environment. The customized virtual globe increases access to planning and resource information for all levels of users and provides the ability to visualize data in a 3D environment. |
